We were presented with a male patient in his 40’s wanting to change his old stained direct veneer composite restorations on teeth #8 and #9. The doctor followed the protocol of taking impressions for pre-op models and taking photos. We made mock diagnostic wax up to show the patient potential results for fabricating the provisional restoration and prep guide. Prior to prepping, the patient expressed his desire to bleach his teeth. We waited 4-6 weeks after the patient stopped bleaching, in order to achieve the desired shade. New photos were taken with the desired shade guide. The teeth were prepped and temporized for several weeks the before final impressions were taken. The final crowns were made using e.max (lithium disilicate) ingots BL1 LT (Bleach shade 1 low translucency) layered technique (porcelain fused to e.max lithium disilicate coping) e.max ceram porcelain. Crowns were tried in at next appointment and were accepted by the patient as well as the dental team. The doctor bonded the crowns at the try-in appointment, since patient was extremely happy with them.
